Women's T20 Asia Cup: Malaysia defeated Sri Lanka by 144 runs

Jul 22, Kathmandu- Sri Lanka have entered the semi-finals of the ACC Women's T20 Cricket Tournament.

Sri Lanka entered the semi-finals of the ACC T20 cricket tournament after winning two consecutive matches.

Sri Lanka defeated Malaysia by 144 runs at home in Dambulla on Monday.

Chasing a target of 186 runs, Malaysia lost all wickets in 19.5 overs and managed to score only 40 runs.

Elsa Hunter top scored for Malaysia with 10 runs. Apart from Hunter, no other Malaysian batsman could score runs in double figures.

For Sri Lanka, Shashini Gimhani took 3 wickets, Kawya Kavindi and Kavisha Dilhari took 2 each and Inoshi Priyadharshani, Sachini Nisansala and Ama Kanchana took 1 wicket each.

Sri Lanka, who won the toss and opted to bat, lost 4 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs and made a huge total of 184 runs.

Captain Chamari Athapaththu played a century innings for Sri Lanka. Facing 69 balls, she scored 119 unbeaten runs by hitting 14 fours and 7 sixes.
