Jul 23, Kathmandu- The Ministry of Home Affairs has stated that the national identity card is not mandatory for those receiving social security allowance.
The Ministry of Home Affairs changed the earlier decision and made it clear that the national identity card is not mandatory for the time being.
The Social Security Branch under the Department of National ID and Civil Registration wrote a letter to all 753 local levels and issued a notice not to seek the National Identity Card immediately.
In the department's letter, it is mentioned that changing the decision made by the government earlier on Jestha 24, the national identity card is not mandatory for the social security allowance beneficiaries.
After making the national identity card mandatory for social security benefits, it was widely criticized.
