IPL Franchises Put Three Demands Before The Megha Auction

Jul 25, Kathmandu- A mega auction is going to be held before the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) next year. Before that, the franchise has to release the players.

The recently held meeting of the IPL Governing Council and the franchisees demanded three changes. It has been mentioned in the media report that they have demanded changes in the duration of the Megha auction, the number of player retentions and the right to match rules.

According to media reports, the franchisees demanded changes in three rules of the IPL. In the meeting held before the Mega Auction, the franchisees demanded that the duration of the Mega Auction be extended to five years. Moreover, they have demanded that they should be allowed to keep four to six players and that each team should be given at least eight Right to Match (RTM) options. However, no decision has been made on these matters yet.

The reason behind the demand for mega auctions every five years is to give young players a chance to prepare. This will benefit the uncapped players and they will be able to improve their game. Currently, the IPL Mega Auction is held every three years.

In this meeting, the franchises demanded a change to the Right to Match (RTM) option from the IPL officials. Fans want to reduce it to eight before the mega auction. If this happens, it will be easier for teams to re-integrate their old players into the team by matching them with higher bids.
