Aug 05, Kathmandu- Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has instructed the relevant agencies to take measures to protect the citizens of flood-slide-affected areas. The Minister of Home Affairs gave this instruction at the 24th meeting of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority held today.
He emphasized on taking measures to protect the flood-slide affected areas like Mahottari, Banke, Kaski, Sankhuwasabha, Kanchanpur, Bhojpur Chitwan and other areas as soon as possible. The Home Minister said that while creating the 'Disaster Sensitive Social Security Procedure 2081', we should be serious about the aid received from foreign organizations and the issue of national security.
"There should be a 'one door entry' of foreign organizations when it comes to receiving aid for disaster. Get help from them as soon as possible. If any foreign organization works where we are, it should be known to the association", he said, "This should be looked at seriously while making the procedure. In addition, the issue of national security is also sensitively connected to it. Please pay attention to that.”
He instructed to make the agenda of policy issues rather than daily administrative issues in the working committee meeting in the coming days. "The authority should do the daily administrative matters. It is appropriate to discuss policy matters in the meeting of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Executive Committee and reach a decision. The rights of giving consent and approving can be delegated to the executive of the authority. If this is not enough, the rules can be amended by the Council of Ministers", he said. The Home Minister was instructed to seriously implement the issues raised in the meeting. In the meeting, the authority was informed about the effect of monsoon this year.
