Community Schools Becoming Technology Friendly

Aug 23, Kathmandu- Krishnapur municipality has taken forward the work of making the community schools technology-friendly for improving the quality of education. The work of connecting smart televisions to all 33 public schools within the municipality has been advanced.

City chief Hemraj Ojha said that arrangements are being made to teach using modern technology to make teaching and learning more effective. "Especially targeting the children studying in the child development classes, we are going to arrange teaching and learning through smart televisions, smart boards and electronic devices in every public school", he said, "We are working to raise the deteriorating quality of education by making the public schools in the city a model."

He mentioned that the arrangement of materials such as black and white printers, color printers, projectors, computers etc. is being done based on the needs of the school. Through the information technology branch of the municipality, the resource teachers of the school have been trained on how to operate the electronic devices provided to the school. The municipality has prepared an internal mechanism to monitor the activities of the school.

The municipality has been encouraging students to give information from the school level for the preservation of art, culture, literature and costumes of different castes within the city. According to city chief Ojha, a system has been created to measure the performance and quality of schools in the city for quality education and reward the best schools. Previously, the municipality had done the work of matching the posts of teachers in the schools along with the management of principals.
