President Paudel Suggests The Foreign Minister To Establish Embassy Of Oman In Kathmandu

Aug 27, Kathmandu- Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi had a courtesy meeting with President Ram Chandra Paudel. Foreign Minister Al Busaidi, who is leading the Omani delegation on a two-day visit to Nepal with President Paudel, met at President's residence Sital Niwas on Tuesday.

Kiran Pokharel, President's Press Adviser, informed that during the meeting, President Paudel said that by 2026, Nepal will be upgraded from the list of least developed countries and become a middle-income country by 2030 and the goal of zero carbon emission by 2045 has been taken, for which, Nepal expects support from the Oman government's sovereign fund and other friendly countries.

Pointing out that the foreign policies of Nepal and Oman have many similarities, Paudel said that there is a good possibility of increasing cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, tourism and investment. President Paudel mentioned that when the number of Nepalis working in Oman is increasing, establishing an embassy of Oman in Kathmandu would be suitable for both countries. He also pointed out that the direct air connection between the two countries will help to facilitate trade, promote tourism and increase relations at the people-to-people level.

During the meeting, Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid informed that various dimensions of bilateral relations were discussed with the Nepalese government during the visit and that Oman wants to make relations with Nepal more harmonious with an open heart, adviser Pokharel informed.

Sayyid mentioned that his government is positive about opening an embassy of Oman in Nepal and establishing direct air links between the two countries, and said that he highly valued the contribution made by the calm, gentle and hard-working Nepalese in Oman to the development of Oman.
