Aug 30, Kathmandu- Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has announced to conduct online education across the country so that up to 70 percent of students will pass in the upcoming SEE examination of Class 10.
Addressing the 29th convocation ceremony of Kathmandu University in Dhulikhel, Prime Minister Oli, who is also the chancellor, informed that the central government has asked the relevant bodies to conduct special classes through online medium on the main subjects including English, Mathematics, Science.
"Only around 50 percent passing the SEE is an extreme injustice to the students. To end this situation, I have asked the Ministry of Education, Nepal Telecom and other agencies to make necessary arrangements. Instead of giving more marks, we have already started work so that the students write well and pass more. We will work to show why the present government was formed in the results. He also clarified that the government will proceed more clearly and firmly in the coming days for the prosperity of the country and the strengthening of overall education.
He mentioned that the results of the students have improved due to the fact that he had given online classes from Jhapa last year and said that this practice will be expanded across the country.
Prime Minister Oli urged the initiated students in various departments of the university to make proper use of the knowledge and skills they have acquired and become worthy citizens for the society. He said, "Now you can go to any corner of the world and demonstrate your abilities. The world is open to you. You have achieved this success as a result of your parents' investment and affection, make good use of it, and become a worthy citizen of service."
In the ceremony, Prime Minister Oli awarded Mijla Chitrakar, who obtained 4 CGPA in the School of Arts at the post-graduate level, the Chancellor's Gold Medal, and the Vice Chancellor's Gold Medal to Mukesh Tiwari, who obtained 4 CGPA at the graduate level from the School of Science. At the graduation level, Vice-Chancellor Gold Medal was given to Akib Dahal of Manipal College of Medical Sciences Pokhara, Nhucheratna Tuladhar Gold Medal to Rasmita Paudel of Birat Medical College, Ramesh Prasad Singh Gold Medal to Arjun Das of School of Medical Sciences and Maheshnath Parajuli Gold Medal to Ranisha Paudel of School of Education.
Minister of Education, Science and Technology and Vice-Chancellor Vidya Bhattarai attended the program and two thousand three hundred and fourteen students including foreign students were initiated in the ceremony.
