Aug 31, Kathmandu- Mil Mi-17 helicopter, which was taking Gauchar Airstrip from the airport for maintenance, crashed in Kedarnath on Saturday.

The helicopter crashed when it lost its balance.

District Tourism Officer Rahul Choubey said that when the helicopter had covered only a short distance, it started to lose its balance.

"There were no passengers or luggage in the helicopter. After receiving information about the incident, the rescue team reached the spot. The team is inspecting the situation,” Choubey added.

At present, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team has reached the accident site and is continuing the relief work. There was no loss of life in the accident.

Sources said that the investigation is ongoing as the real cause of the accident has not yet been ascertained.
