129 People Died During A Prison Break In The Congo

Sep 03, Kathmandu- The interior minister has informed that 129 people died during the week-long prison break attempt in the largest prison in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Out of the 24 people who died in this incident, Minister Jacquemin Shabani, who was shot dead after a warning, announced the incident through a video message. According to him, at least 59 people were injured in Makala prison in the capital Kinshasa.

In this incident, many people were trampled or affected in the crowd and many women were raped, according to the Ministry.

Eyewitnesses have said that there was a long shooting and a tense situation in the prison premises on Monday. An electrician, Daddi Soso, said that he saw a security force vehicle taking away the body after the incident.

Government spokesman Patrick Muaya told national television that the situation was currently "under control," but officials did not say how many prisoners had escaped or attempted to escape.
