Internet Providers Instructed To Remove The Ban On Tiktok

Sep 06, Kathmandu- The Nepal Telecommunication Authority has instructed all internet providers to remove the ban imposed on the social network Tiktok.

In a letter to all internet service providers on Friday, the authority said, "Since the cabinet meeting on 2089/05/06 decided to lift the ban on the use of TikTok as a social network, instructions have been issued by the authority to the concerned self internet service providers and mobile service providers in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 15 of the Telecommunications Act, 2053 to lift the ban on Tiktok until further decision."

The government had banned Tiktok in Kartik 2080, saying it played a major role in disturbing social harmony. After about nine and a half months, in the last six months, the government has lifted the ban on Tiktok with conditions. However, Tiktok did not run because internet providers were not allowed to lift the ban. Now the ban on Tiktok will be completely removed.
