Prime Minister Oli's US Visit Has Been Approved

Sep 06, Kathmandu- Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will attend the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. A cabinet meeting held on Thursday afternoon Bhadra 20 formally decided to approve the delegation led by Prime Minister Oli to attend the General Assembly.

Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung said at a press conference on Friday that the team led by Prime Minister Oli has also agreed to form a delegation to attend the General Assembly to be held in New York from Ashwin 7.

Similarly, the government has also approved the proposal to organize the third meeting of WIMSTEC agriculture minister level and high officials related to agriculture on the 14th and 15th of Chaitra 2081 in Nepal. The Council of Ministers meeting also decided to form a negotiation team under the leadership of the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance to negotiate on behalf of the Government of Nepal regarding the acceptance of USD 115 million concessional loan assistance from the Asian Development Bank for irrigation modernization and enhancement projects.

Likewise, the spokesperson Gurung said that the government has also decided to nominate Dinesh Kumar Ghimire, the revenue secretary of the Ministry of Finance, as the chairman of the board of directors of the employee savings fund and Gobind Gurung, the chief executive officer of Krishi Bikas Bank, as the vacant director of the board of directors.

The government has also nominated Binod Bahadur Pal from Sudurpaschim, Ambika Mahat from Karnali Province, Lekhnath Pandey from Lumbini Province, Dr. Rammani Adhikari from Gandaki Province, Nirjala Shrestha Chaudhary from Bagmati Province, Shyam Kishore Yadav from Madhes Province and Laila Shrestha from Koshi Province as vacant members of Nepal Engineering Council.

Likewise, the Cabinet meeting also decided to extend the period of the agreement between the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens and the educational program for underprivileged children UNICEF for the operation and management of Child Reform Homes Bhaktapur, Morang and Kaski to the end of December 2081. Spokesperson Gurung said that the government has also given approval to the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority to obtain membership of the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities of Global Network.

The Council of Ministers meeting approved the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation to acquire about 8 bighas of land required for the construction of a 132 kV tower pad under the Lahan-Sukhipur 132 KV transmission line project, Nepalgunj-Nanpara 132 KV transmission line project in Banke district. It has also decided to approve of the same ministry to acquire about 2 bighas of land for the construction of the tower pad of the line.
