Super Typhoon In China Resulted Tragic Loss Of Two Lives And Left 92 Injured

Sep 07, Kathmandu- At least two people died and 92 others were injured due to heavy rains and strong winds caused by Super Typhoon Yagi in South China's island province of Hainan, local authorities said on Saturday.

According to the provincial administration, the Yagi incident resulted in the deaths of two individuals in Ding'an County, China, while Wenchang City reported 12 injuries and Haikou City recorded 80 injuries on Saturday.

The Yagi warnings in Hainan have been rescinded following the cessation of the storm and rainfall, and rescue efforts have commenced throughout the province. Electricity Personnel have been mobilized to restore electricity to the affected houses. According to recent reports, 51 of the 89 roads blocked due to rain and storms are under maintenance.

Train operations in the impacted regions are anticipated to recommence on Saturday afternoon, whereas services in Qiongzhou province are projected to restart on Sunday evening. As a result of Yagi, Haikou Meilan International Airport will remain shut until Sunday, while Sanya Phoenix International Airport is set to resume its flight operations starting Saturday.

The province has experienced significant disruption, with over 12,500 communication stations reported as damaged, particularly impacting the city of Wenchang, which has endured the greatest loss of communication infrastructure. The Yagi, which occurred in Hainan, China, earlier on Friday, has since impacted Guangdong province and has turned to Vietnam. In response to this situation, Vietnam issued a warning on Saturday advising residents in coastal regions to take necessary precautions against potential hazards caused by Yagi.
