Newari civilization is similar to socialism: Prachanda

Sep 07, Kathmandu- Former Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) has said that the practice of commonality and self-sustainable economy within the Newari civilization is compatible with the socialist system and should be further promoted.

Concluding the twelve year fair held in Lalitpur Metropolitan City Ward No. 21 Khokna, he said that while maintaining the originality of Newa civilization, Newari culture should be linked with tourism and economic prosperity. Pointing out the economic self-reliance, social harmony and harmony and cultural originality of the Newar community as a symbol of the republic, he clarified that it is contributing not only to the preservation of the Newar civilization but also to the preservation of the culture and social order of the country as a whole.

Mentioning that the Newa community has been playing a historic role not only in the field of economic development, social harmony and cultural preservation of the country but also in the political transformation of the country, Chairman Prachanda said that the contribution of the Newa community, especially in the ten-year Great People's War and the historic People's Movement, is memorable and immeasurable. As a result of this contribution, we have ensured the rights of all castes, regions, genders, languages, communities through the Constitution of Nepal and are now in the implementation phase. He expressed confidence that the community will play a historic and decisive role in fulfilling the dream of building socialism as seen by the Nepali people through good governance, social justice and prosperity.

Stating that the Newari civilization is diverse and moreover, a fundamental ancient population of Nepal, Khokana, with a separate cultural identity, Chairman Prachanda said that the 12-year fair, which takes place with different identities across the country, is an important culture of the country. Famous for the production of Mustard oil, Khokana has also established its identity as the place where the electric light was lit for the first time in Nepal, he said, adding that the success of Khokana residents in establishing originality in all fields, including their own products, their own business, their own costumes, is unparalleled in the country.

He said that the state must respect the role played by the Newa community in order to promote social unity, language culture, tangible and intangible culture. Chairman  Prachanda said that it is necessary to establish Khokna not only in Nepal, but also internationally, with the help of archaeologists, historians and researchers, and the local government should take initiative with the aim of listing it in the World Heritage List.

Reminding that he had started important work to establish the Newa civilization, he announced that he would recognize Nepal Samvat as a national festival in 2065 when he was the Prime Minister for the first time and when he led the government last time, he informed that from the cabinet meeting on 27th Kartik 2080, arrangements were made to mention Nepal Samvat in every government document. Chairman Prachanda said that Nepal language and Tamang language being the language of government work in Bagmati province is more historical work.
