Sep 10, Kathmandu- A 3-day international seminar will be held regarding the effects of climate change on the Himalayan region.
Nepal Institute for Policy Research held a press conference in Kathmandu today to inform about the seminar to be held in Kathmandu on Bhadra 28, 29 and 30. The coordinator of the organizing committee of the seminar, Nikesh Kumar Lamsal, informed that professors, scientists and experts working in the field of climate and environment will participate in the three-day seminar including Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Bhutan.
In the program, representatives of South Asian countries including Myanmar will give various presentations on climate change, environmental effects and its effects. More than twenty-five working papers will be presented in the program with the participation of experts from different countries. Experts from some countries will also join the program through online and the Kathmandu Manifesto will be released at the end of the seminar.
Coordinator Lammal said that the three-day program is expected to be a cornerstone for protecting the common interests of all the people of the region by coordinating and enhancing the use of common natural resources through regular dialogue and cooperation between the nations, scientific studies and research and formulating effective policies.
The inaugural session of the program will be held on 28th of Bhadra at the Auditorium of Nature Conservation Fund, Khumaltar, Lalitpur, while the technical sessions will be conducted on 29th and 30th of Bhadra, informed Dr. Premraj Neupane, Vice President of the Foundation.
The seminar will be jointly organized by the Nepal Institute for Policy Research (NIPoRe), National Nature Conservation Fund, Asian Research Center - Tribhuvan University, Indian Council of Social Science Research, Indian Institute of Management Shillong, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Climate Alliance of Himalayan Communities.
