Objections Of Medical Students In Bangladesh To Ministry Of Education Notification

Sep 13, Kathmandu- Medical students who have been demanding internships in Nepal have become more angry after the notification of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. After completing the course of medical education in Bangladesh, they were demanding to arrange an internship in Nepal and became angry after the notification of the Ministry of Education.

Due to the anti-quota movement in Bangladesh, about 250 MBBS and BDS students who returned to Nepal without being able to do internships were demanding internships in Nepal. However, the Ministry of Education had issued a notice saying that the internship should be done only in the colleges designated by the concerned colleges in Bangladesh. Nepalese Medical Students Association, Bangladesh issued a statement against the said notification and objected.

Dr. Naveen Yadav, president of the association, objected to the question asked to the Medical and Dental Council of Bangladesh through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He is registered with the Medical Council of Bangladesh. It is said that foreign students have to complete their internship in the same medical college where they studied. "If you are registered with the medical council of your own country without wanting to be registered, can you do an internship in your own country or not? The answer to the question was not found, this shows how weak our coordination and diplomacy are", the statement said.

He said that even if students from neighbouring countries like India and Pakistan study in Bangladesh, there is a provision that they can get internships in their own country, but Nepali students cannot get it.
