US Set To Provide Additional Financial Assistance Of 202 Million Dollars To Bangladesh

Sep 17, Kathmandu- The US is going to give additional financial assistance of 202 million dollars to Bangladesh. The American representatives announced this on Sunday during their visit to Dhaka.

It is said that this amount will help in inclusive economic growth and development programs. A six-member US delegation led by Junior Assistant Finance Minister Brent Neiman visited Dhaka recently. This was the first visit by US officials since Mohammad Yunus took charge of the government after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned amid nationwide protests last month and fled to India.

Since the start of the Ukrainian war in early 2022, the cost of fuel and food imports has increased, and the economy of Bangladesh has suffered more.

Yunus said in a televised address last week that the government had requested $5 billion in aid to help stabilize the economy. Last year, Bangladesh sought a $4.7 billion bailout from the International Monetary Fund.
