Monsoon Air Affects Domestic Flights

Sep 26, Kathmandu- Flights in the country have been disrupted due to bad weather. Domestic flights from Tribhuvan International Airport have experienced delays and cancellations due to bad weather. Despite the Visual Flight Rules (VFR) at Kathmandu Airport, flights to destinations outside Kathmandu, including Biratnagar, Simara, have been affected.

According to the airport's spokesperson Rinji Sherpa, two flights were diverted due to bad weather. The flight of Yeti Airlines flying from Kathmandu to Simara has failed to land. Another flight of the same airline from Kathmandu to Biratnagar has returned to Kathmandu from Bichabato due to bad weather.

The airline has said that there will be no mountain flights for today due to bad weather. International flights are operating normally. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division of the Department of Water and Meteorology, the low-pressure line of the monsoon is located in the southern areas and the monsoon winds are having an impact across the country.

Also, there is a partial effect of the low pressure system that has developed in the Bay of Bengal. Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over the districts of Gangetic West Bengal and at many places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada and Gajapati.
