Petition In The SC Claiming That Chabilal Joshi Has Been Illegally Detained

Sep 30, Kathmandu- Former DIG Chabilal Joshi, who was arrested on charges of misappropriation of co-operative's money in Gorkha media, has been filed in the Supreme Court for illegal imprisonment.

On behalf of Joshi, Rochak Joshi filed a petition demanding release from prison. The petition was registered in the Supreme Court on Sunday and the payment has been fixed on Monday. Today in the judge, Til Prasad Shrestha's bench has been fixed.

Suryadarshan Cooperative Society of Pokhara was arrested for investigation in case of misappropriation of funds. His statement in Pokhara has been completed and further investigation is being conducted.

In the report given by the Special Committee of Parliamentary Inquiry, action was also recommended against Joshi. Speaker Devraj Ghimire directed the report submitted to the House of Representatives to be sent to the government for implementation.

The cabinet meeting on Ashwin 4 decided to implement the cooperative investigation report. The report was sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Former DIG Joshi was arrested soon after reaching home.

He is the operator of Gorkha Media Network. It was found that the savings of Suryadarshan Cooperative of Pokhara were invested in Gorkha media.

Along with Joshi, it has been recommended to take action against Rabi Lamichhane and GB Rai, the former Home Minister and Chairman of the National Independent Party. Rai is the Chairman of Gorkha Media and Lamichhane was the Managing Director at that time.
