Sep 30, Kathmandu- Over 10,000 students across 12 districts have been impacted by floods and landslides resulting from intense rainfall. The ministry has informed that 8 students have died due to landslides so far.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has reported that 53 schools across 12 districts sustained damage as a result of a recent natural disaster. Currently, three schools are being utilized to accommodate disaster victims. Laxmi Prasad Bhattarai, a spokesperson for the Ministry, indicated that this figure may rise as further information regarding additional damages and victims is still forthcoming.

The Ministry of Education has requested the closure of schools across the country for three days. The ministry issued a statement yesterday (Ashwin 12th) and requested the local level to close all schools across the country for three days, saying that emergency management should also be done in school buildings.

Following the Ministry's request, schools in the most affected areas are closed. Less affected local level schools are still operating. Arjun Dhakal, Director of Education and Human Resource Development Center, informed that there was a lot of damage due to Saturday's rain and flood. He said that the human casualties were less as it was a holiday.

For the implementation of the 'Real Plan' for the continuation of learning, a budget ranging from 400 thousand to 1 million rupees has been arranged in all 753 municipalities. Director Dhakal said that if it is not able to address the immediate damage, additional budget will be sent from the center.

"If that is not enough, we are ready to request a budget and send it to the Ministry of Finance," he said.
