11 Migrants Arrested In Turkey

Oct 12, Kathmandu- 11 illegal immigrants have been arrested after violating the rules and trying to escape in a vehicle in the northwestern Turkish province of Tekirdag. According to the Ihlas news agency, they were arrested when the gendarmerie forces launched an operation to fight against irregular migration in Sarai district.

It is said that efforts are on to catch the suspected human trafficker who is on the run. Turkey's northwestern Thrace region, near the borders with Greece and Bulgaria, has recently become a preferred route for illegal migrants trying to enter Europe illegally by land.

In order to control human trafficking, the police have been conducting regular checks at the main checkpoints of this route.
