Mayor Ballen's Approach To Taking Over Dharamshala Considered 'Gangster Act'

Oct 15, Kathmandu- Various organizations have protested against Pashupati Area Development Fund taking away the operation of Pashupati Gaushala Dharamshala from Marwari Seva Samiti.

They have objected to the capture of the Pashupati Gaushala Dharamshala by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City in a hooligan style.

The representatives present at the discussion program organized by Hindu Rashtra Swabhiman Jagran Abhiyan between Marwari Seva Samiti and various religious and social organizations have alleged that the attack on Pashupati Gaushala Dharamshala is not only an attack on the Marwari community but also on the sacred land associated with Lord Pashupatinath, the worshipful god of Hindus.

They allege that while managing the accommodation and food of Hindu pilgrims from all over the world, cows are reared in the gaushala and free dialysis of nearly 100 kidney patients is being done by handing over the operation of the building to the Metropolitan Corporation contrary to the existing law and agreements made at various times.

Former Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli, who was present at the event, said that the attack on Pashupati Gaushala Dharamshala was not a normal thing and behind it was the beginning of a small conspiracy against those who believe in Hinduism. According to Parajuli, the Pashupati Area Development Fund has become a recruiting center for Christian missionaries for the past few years. He warned that it would not be tolerated that churches and mosques would be allowed to run on the land of the fund, but Hindus would not be allowed to run cowsheds.

Narottam Vaidya, the former treasurer of the Pashupati Area Development Fund, who was present at the event, also said that the current officials of the fund have caused the Marwadi Sewa Samiti unreservedly.

There were representatives of a dozen associations including Vishwa Hindu Parishad Nepal, Vishwa Hindu Federation and others. Devesh Jha, General Secretary of Hindu Rashtra Swabhiman Jagran Abhiyan, said that although the incident looked normal from outside, it was a big conspiracy from inside. He said that the role of member secretary of the fund, Milan Thapa, was questionable and said that Mayor Balen's style of occupying Dharamshala was like a "gangster hero".
