19,000 Infected With Dengue Across The Country

Oct 16, Kathmandu- Dengue infection is spreading rapidly throughout the country. According to the latest statistics of the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD), the number of dengue infected people has reached 19,599. Nine people have lost their lives due to dengue infection so far.

Dengue infection has spread to 76 districts of the country, according to the division. Dengue infection has spread the most in Kathmandu. Three thousand one hundred and three people have been affected by dengue infection in Kathmandu so far. Similarly, dengue infection has been observed in 2 thousand 847 people in Kaski. Similarly, two thousand and one hundred and seven dengue cases have been confirmed in Bhaktapur, 1,562 in Parbat, 971 in Chitwan, 827 in Lalitpur, 588 in Gorkha, 610 in Baglung, 355 in Bhaktapur and 355 in Syangja.

Sukraraj Tropical & Infectious Disease Hospital Teku Research Unit Coordinator Specialist Dr. Sher Bahadur Pun says, 'The risk of dengue is likely to increase when the post-monsoon starts. The number of dengue patients coming to the hospital after Dasain is increasing. Dengue infection seems to be spreading in the community.'

By the end of December 2080, more than 52,000 dengue cases had been confirmed and 20 people had died. Dengue is an insect-borne disease transmitted by the bite of a female Aedes aegypti mosquito. To avoid mosquito bites, wear clothes that cover the entire body, fill potholes, repair water or sewage leaks immediately, keep empty dishes covered, empty the water tank and clean it, and use a hammock while sleeping.

To avoid dengue infection, you should avoid mosquito bites. Dr Pun says, 'It is better to use a swing. If you see complicated symptoms, you should contact a health institution.'
