Telecom Tower Vandalized By An Unknown Group

Oct 17, Kathmandu- Khaptadchhanna Rural Municipality of Bajhang has been without communication since last week. On Ashiwn 23rd, after an unknown group vandalized the tower of Nepal Telecom in Khaptadchanna rural municipality, the rural municipality became without communication.

Pradeep Khadka of Khaptadchhanna rural municipality-7 said that he could not share the fun of Dasain with his relatives outside the village due to lack of communication. A fair was also organized on Dashain in Gorkhali village of Khaptadchhanna Rural Municipality.

He said, "Since the day of Ashtami, the telephone network has stopped working, and the fair has also been affected. Now there is no network in the entire rural municipality".

Basanta Chauhan, a local resident, said that on Ashwin 23, an unknown group vandalized the tower of Nepal Telecom in Khaptadchanna-4 Majhigaon. The head of Nepal Telecom Bajhang, Bam Bahadur Singh informed that along with the remote tower in Majhi village, the tower of Khaptadchhanna-7 Madukatne was also vandalized. He said that after the radio link between the two towers stopped working, more than 20,000 citizens were without communication.

He said that now both these towers are undergoing repair. Chief Singh said that it will take time because there is a shortage of skilled manpower in the district and all the equipment has to be kept new.

It has been reported that vandalism and theft have been taking place in the towers in different areas of the district before. Yuvraj Bhandari, head of District Police Office Bajhang, said that the person who vandalized the tower is currently being searched for.

As the tower is located in the forest, it is said that it is difficult to find out the reality of the incident.
