Guesthouse Owner Involved Women In Sex Racket

Oct 18, Kathmandu- ​​​​​​​The guesthouse owner who forced a girl into sex racket has been arrested.

The Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau arrested an individual today in Tokha Municipality-9. Sujan Tamang, a 29-year-old resident of Nuwakot Tadi rural municipality-6, is has been detained. He operates the Nima Guest House located in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26, near the New Bus Park. Investigations have disclosed that he coerced a young girl into engaging in sex racket under the pretense of offering her a position of a cleaner. Reports indicate that they charge between 2,000 to 3,000 for one to two hours and 6,000 for an overnight stay.

Authorities reported that the victim was confined to the guesthouse for one month and was compelled to engage in physical contact despite her illness. It has come to light that the accused subjected her to abuse and physical violence while insisting on payment. Following a complaint regarding the victim's coercion into sex work, the police apprehended Tamang. Additionally, the Kathmandu District Court has granted permission to hold the detained Tamang for a period of five days.
