Oct 18, Kathmandu- Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, has been arrested by the police.

Chairman Lamichhane was arrested by the CIB team from his party headquarters Banasthali. He was arrested after the Kaski District Court allowed the police to investigate the alleged misappropriation of Suryadarshan Cooperative's funds. District Police Office Kaski is investigating the case that Lamichhane, along with Gitendra Babu (GB) Rai, founder president of Suryadarshan Cooperative, embezzled money from Gorkha Media Network.

Surya Thapa-led Parliamentary Inquiry Committee has concluded that 655.4 million illegal income came from five cooperatives in the Gorkha media network operated by former DIG Chabilal Joshi, Rai and Lamichhane. Lamichhane was the director of Gorkha media. Lamichhane spent the money that came to Gorkha media. Former DIG Chabilal Joshi was arrested on Ashwin 6 on charges of misappropriation of funds.
