Second Edition Of 'Bhoomi Folk Festival' Being Held In Janakpur

Oct 20, Kathmandu- The Bhumi Foundation is set to host the second edition of the 'Bhoomi Folk Festival' at Tirhutiya Gachi in Janakpurdham on the 10th of Kartik. This event aims to enhance musical tourism in the region.

In a press conference on Sunday, founder president of Bhumi Foundation Ranjan Jha said that the festival will make a special contribution to the preservation of endangered folk songs, traditions and customs of Mithila region. According to him, the festival will highlight the cultural heritage of Madhesh and Mithila and bring together regional, national and international artists.

He stated that the festival will feature a range of cultural performances, encompassing folk dances and other dance forms. Renowned artists such as Jhuma Limbu, esteemed Maithili vocalist Dr. Ranjana Jha, and singer Sushant Ghimire are expected to contribute to the festival's memorable experience. Additionally, the theater group Mithila Natyakala Parishad (MINAP) will also take part in the performances.

Jha asserts that this festival will significantly contribute to the cultural renaissance of the Madhesh and Mithila regions, fostering greater enthusiasm among the youth for traditional art forms. He also mentioned that the festival will feature various activities, including dance performances, cultural tableaux, and a photo exhibition entitled 'Women in Public Life.'
