How did Seres 3 EV catch fire at Sitapaila?

Oct 21, Kathmandu- The company has given an explanation regarding the incident of fire in the Seres 3 EV which was kept in the parking lot of the Seres Service Center in Sitapaila, Kathmandu on Monday. Issuing a statement, the company has made a preliminary conclusion that the car may have been repaired at an unauthorized service center due to a technical fault that may have caused the fire.

"The car was brought to Seres service center after the regular technical problems rectified in the car were not resolved. Smoke was discharged due to a short circuit. Preliminary investigations have revealed that it can be repaired through unauthorized service centers in the past and due to this, technical malfunctions occurred,” the statement said.

The company also claims that there was no damage to both the vehicle's battery and motor in this incident. A representative of the company informed that although the reason mentioned in the initial conclusion is being investigated further, this case is being investigated.

He said that after the completion of the entire investigation, more information about the incident will be made public and a decision will be taken on matters such as compensation to the vehicle owner.

In addition to this, claiming that electric vehicles will be equipped with many types of safety features, the company has requested its customers to carry out repairs only through designated service centers.
