Mayor Sampang's Disobeys Court Order!

Oct 21, Kathmandu- Harka Sampang, the mayor of Dharan, has expressed that he will accept the short-term order of the Biratnagar High Court.

Mayor Sampang has challenged the court through social media saying that the one whom he has given as acting mayor is the acting mayor.

While the Deputy Mayor Aindra Bikram Begha is in the city, the Mayor Sampang of the Sub-metropolis has left Dharan 11 Ward President Lokandra Fago in charge and has gone to UK for two weeks.

On Sunday, the Biratnagar High Court gave a short-term order not to implement the mayor's letter while hearing the petition of Begha, who had gone to court against the mayor's decision.

As the letter from the court did not arrive, Ward President Fago acted as acting mayor on Monday. On Monday, Mayor Sampang, writing on the social network Facebook, claimed that he was elected mayor by the people and not by the court and was given an acting role accordingly.

Mayor Sampang has written, "I was not elected by any court. In a democracy, the sovereign Nepali citizen's right to rule is chosen by suffrage. I have been the head of Dharan for 5 years which is made by the people, I have given the authority given by the citizens and left the 11th chairman acting. He whom I have authorized is the administrator. Don't make any noise. Do not leave your mouth. For the development of Dharan, I will come to the UK for two days and don't sit around doing bad things".
