New Variant Of The Mpox Virus Discovered In Germany

Oct 24, Kathmandu- A new variant of Mpox has been discovered in Germany. The first patient infected with clade 1b was found there.

Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the main public health authority there, has given this information. Although the risk of the new variant spreading to the general public is low, it is said that the organization is closely monitoring it.

The institute has not said anything about when the infection was identified and who the patient is. RKI believes that the vaccine currently available in the market is effective against the new variant.

In August of this year, the first case of the clade 1b mpox variant outside the African continent was confirmed in Sweden. In August, the World Health Organization declared Mpox a public health emergency, considering it a matter of international concern.
