Nov 02, Kathmandu- President Ram Chandra Paudel and First Lady Sabita Paudel performed cow worship today. There is a tradition of worshiping the cow as a symbol of Goddess Laxmi on the day of Kattik Krishna Aunsi i.e. cow festival. President Paudel ritually worshiped the cow at Sheetal Niwas and gave the cow food.

On the day of Shrawan Shukla Purnima, the Raksha Sutra (doro) tied to the hand is tied to the cow's tail on the day of Gai Tihar.

Today, there is a tradition of practicing 'Goru Puja' or 'Gowardhan' as part of Tihar or Yamapanchak.
