Air Pollution Increased In Kathmandu

Nov 02, Kathmandu- Along with the second biggest festival of Nepalese, Tihar, the air pollution has increased due to the covert burning of firecrackers. Air Quality Index' said that the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of Kathmandu was 160 on Friday evening.

AQI was less than 100 in Kathmandu only a day ago i.e. Thursday. According to Intex, as of Friday evening, Kathmandu is listed as the eighth most polluted city in the world. China's Beijing has been listed as the world's first polluted city. Dr. Dharmaraj Upreti, a disaster management expert, has emphasized that there is a need to strictly control the burning of patkas, which causes air and noise pollution.

According to him, AQI from zero to 50 is good, i.e. green signal. An AQI of 51 to 100 is indicated by a caution or yellow symbol. Similarly, from 101 to 150, it is considered unhealthy, which affects respiratory and heart disease patients. An AQI of 151 to 200 is also considered unhealthy but affects everyone. 201 to 30000 is considered very unhealthy.
