Nov 05, Kathmandu- Four people, including former home minister Rabi Lamichhane, who were arrested in the co-operative fraud case, have been presented by the police in the district court in Kaski.
According to District Police Office Kaski, Lamichhane, who is also the former director of Gorkha Media, who was involved in the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud, Leela Pacchai, who was associated with GB Rai and Ram Bahadur of Nature Herbs, who were involved in embezzling Suryadarshan Sahakari's money with images, have been brought to court.
As the deadline expired during the Tihar holiday, the police brought the case to the Kaski District Court to extend the deadline for the investigation. In the court of Judge Chandrakanta Paudel, the debate on the extension of the deadline has started.
The police investigated Lamichhane by extending the deadline twice before.
Lamichhane was arrested on the evening of Kartik 2 from the party office in Kathmandu.
A case of organized crime has been filed against Rabi and Image for misappropriation of cooperative funds through Gorkha media, cooperative fraud and misappropriation of funds by two or more groups.
After Lamichhane will be brought to court, his party Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has demonstrated in Pokhara today.
The RSP has been protesting saying that party chairman Lamichhane was arrested due to political revenge.
