Wife Carrying Championship In America, Prize Of Beer Equal To Wife's Weight

Nov 07, Kathmandu- Over 30 couples participated in the recently concluded North American Wife Carrying Championship in America.

In the wife-carrying competition, held in the presence of a large number of spectators, the contestants ran through the water, over wooden blocks, and trampled through the mud. While doing so, the male contestants were carrying their wives on their shoulders like a sack of potatoes.

This competition was started by being influenced by the style of a famous robber of the 19th century. A Finnish robber named Ronkainen the Rubber used to go to villages and rob them and pick up the women there.

In the same style, among the pairs participating in this competition, men run carrying their partners on their shoulders.

However, only married couples ie man and woman did not participate in the competition held on Saturday. Some couples were both male or female, both carrying and being carried.

The competition was held on a 254-meter route at the Sunday River Ski Resort in Maine, USA.

The winner of the competition received a beer equal to the weight of "Wife" and a cash amount equal to five times the weight.

In that order, the winner's wife was placed on the scale and weighed. Equal weight was given by putting the wife on one side of the scale and the beer carton on the other side.
