Nov 07, Kathmandu- The Rashtriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has prepared to fight alone in the upcoming local level by-elections. RPP has given the responsibility of by-elections to leaders from MPs to office bearers.
They are Bhakti Sitaula, Prahlad Shah, Rajendra Gurung, Samriddhi Rana, Bharat Giri, Roshan Jha, Co-chairman Sobhit Upreti, Rajan Khatiwada, Gyan Bahadur Shahi, Prakash Rimal, Uddhav Thapa, Jhanak Pyakurel, Deepak Bahadur Singh, Rajraj Koirala, Pradeep Udaya, Kunti Kumari Shahi, Deep Bahadur Shahi, Shourendra Bahadur Shah, Angad Budha, Dhawal Shamsher JBR, Prem Balayar and Dharmaraj Joshi.
RPP has decided to nominate Dhruba Maharjan for the mayorship of Kirtipur municipality in Kathmandu and said that candidates for other places will be decided in a few days.
By-elections will be held in 44 different places of the country on the 16th of Mangsir. There are two district coordination committee chiefs, one municipal chief, one deputy mayor, two rural village presidents, three vice presidents, and 35 ward president positions are vacant.
Among the local levels where by-elections are held, most of the people's representatives are elected from the Nepali Congress. There are three municipal heads elected from the Congress, two district coordination committee heads, two deputy heads, three vice presidents and 16 ward presidents, while there are seven ward presidents elected from the CPN-UML.
2 vice presidents and 6 ward presidents elected by Maoists have passed away. One ward president elected from Jaspa and one elected from independent have passed away.
