Permission To Detain Rabi Lamichhane For An Additional 13 Days

Nov 10, Kathmandu- The court has ordered to detain Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and former home minister for another 13 days following the investigation.

Lamichhane, who was arrested in the co-operative fraud case, was allowed to be detained for 13 more days by the Kaski District Court on Sunday for investigation. The deadline for the third extension on Lamichhane expired today. He was brought to court today.

Earlier, Lamichhane was investigated by the court for 6 days for the first time and 7 days for the second time.

Lamichhane was arrested by the police from the central office in Banasthali on the 2nd of Kartik. Soon after, he was taken to Pokhara.

The Surya Thapa-led Parliamentary Inquiry Committee had recommended action to the government, saying that Lamichhane was involved in the misappropriation of cooperative savings funds. Lamichhane was arrested after the government decided to implement the committee's report.

There are cases against him of cooperative fraud, money laundering and organized crime. After the arrest of Chairman Lamichhane, the RSP is on a street protest.
