Nov 11, Kathmandu- Marsyangdi Hydropower Station located in Aanbu Khaireni Rural Municipality-4 is generating electricity at its full capacity even during winter. Currently, although it is time to reduce the production, there is no reduction in the production due to the rainfall.
Center Chief Engineer Pashupati Gautam said that 69 MW of full-capacity electricity is being produced at the rate of 23-23 MW from three units.
"After continuous heavy rains in Ashwin and torrential rains also in Kartik, electricity is being produced at full capacity", he said, "Now that there is plenty of water, there is a possibility that it will be produced at full capacity for another month."
Gautam said that during the dry season last year, the amount of electricity generated was decreased to 30 megawatts due to less snow melting and less water from rivers, lakes and springs mixed with the rivers.
Marsyangdi is a river flowing from the mountains. He said that as the temperature increases in the summer season, melted snow more and when there is more rain, the flow of water in its tributaries and rivers will increase and the power generation will also increase.
According to him, the electricity produced from this center is connected to the national transmission line from Bharatpur in Chitwan through the station in Kathmandu.
According to the center, during the dry season, the snow melts less and the water in the streams, creeks and springs mixed with the river is less.
