Nov 18, Kathmandu- Former Speaker Daman Nath Dhungana was cremated with national honors at Pashupati Cremation area on Monday. Dhungana's sons, Nimesh and Nishesh, gave the lamp to the late father.
During the funeral, the team of the Nepali Army saluted and played a mournful tune. 83-year-old Dhungana passed away at Frontline Hospital in Old Baneshwor on Sunday while undergoing treatment for liver problems.
The cabinet meeting held this morning decided to give a public holiday across the country in honor of Dhungana. Dhungana, who is also a senior advocate, was in charge of the Speaker from 2048 to 2051.
