Nov 19, Kathmandu- Germany is going to provide one billion 46 million rupees of grant aid to Nepal.
A grant agreement was signed between German Ambassador to Nepal Dr. Thomas Prinz and Dhaniram Sharma, Joint Secretary of the International Economic Coordination and Cooperation Division of the Ministry of Finance today, during a formal program at the Ministry of Finance.
The grant amount will be spent on electricity distribution strengthening project through Nepal Electricity Authority. It is said that the subsidy amount will be spent to ensure reliable and efficient electricity supply by using environment-friendly technology while strengthening the power distribution structure of Nepal.
Under this project, Bharatpur (Bagamati Province), Butwal-Bhairawa (Lumbini Province) and Pokhara (Gandaki Province) will be given priority.
The goal of the project is to ensure sustainable access to electricity to the people of the target area while improving energy efficiency and power supply reliability. It is mentioned in the agreement that the electricity distribution strengthening project starting from 2025 will be included in the government's annual budget system.
At the signing ceremony, Joint Secretary Sharma expressed his belief that this cooperation will make a significant contribution in increasing the reliability of electricity supply in the target area. In addition, he expressed gratitude to the German government for its continued commitment to strengthening Nepal's energy sector.
Ambassador Dr. Prinz expressed his satisfaction at being able to support the strengthening of the electricity distribution system in Nepal using climate-friendly technology. He expressed his belief that this agreement will strengthen the relationship between Germany and Nepal.
