Three Arrested With Large Quantity Of Marijuana In Birgunj

 Nov 22, Kathmandu- Police in Birgunj have arrested three people with a large quantity of narcotics from a container of a mini truck carrying goods. Police have arrested the driver of the mini truck bearing the number Na.4 Kha 9258, 36, of Balefi Rural Municipality Ward No. 6 in Sindhupalchowk, Shanta Bahadur Timilsina, 48, of Bhimphedi Rural Municipality Ward No. 9 in Makawanpur, and Surya Bahadur Moktan, 38, of Kailash Rural Municipality Ward No. 1 in Makawanpur, who were also passengers in the mini truck.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Kishor Lamsal, spokesperson of the District Police Office, Parsa, based on a specific information, a joint police team deployed from the Ward Police Office, Birta, Narcotics Control Bureau, Parsa, and Police Post, Inarwa, stopped and checked the mini truck loaded with containers on the Birgunj-16 Bypass Road at around 3:30 am on Friday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Lamsal said that while stopping and checking the mini truck heading towards Rajatjayanti Chowk from Birgunj Bus Park, 85 kilograms of marijuana, hidden in four white plastic bags wrapped in red plastic, was seized inside the container.

He said that all three people, along with the seized drugs, marijuana and the truck, have been detained at the District Police Office, Parsa. Among the three arrested, Timilsina was identified as the driver of the truck, while the other two were not identified as the co-drivers or businessmen of the truck, so an investigation is underway, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police Lamsa.
