One Arrested On Charges Of Human Trafficking

Nov 23, Kathmandu- The District Police Office, Chitwan, has arrested a person on charges of human trafficking.

Police have arrested Raj Kumar Thing AKA Raju Tamang, 44, of Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-14, Makawanpur, while he was about to send five young women to India for foreign employment.

The District Police Office arrested him from Narayangadh on Wednesday and made him public on Friday, said Gautam Mishra, head of the office.

According to him, Thing was arrested while he was gathering young women from different places in Narayangadh and trying to board a bus to Sunauli. Mishra said, “Thing was going to collect the passports of the young women and send them to India for visas. He was arrested after receiving information that the young women were going to go abroad from India.”

He said that this is a new form of human trafficking. Mishra said, “After realizing that Thinga had bad intentions, the girls informed the police through their relatives.”

Police have announced that the District Court in Chitwan has extended Thing's remand for four days in the human trafficking and smuggling case and has begun further investigation.
