Nov 24, Kathmandu- Speaker Devraj Ghimire, who is on a five-day visit to Cambodia, is busy with parliamentary meetings.
He paid a courtesy call on his Cambodian counterpart, the speaker of the lower house of the National Assembly, on Saturday evening, the speaker's secretariat said. During the meeting, issues of bilateral interest, progress of Nepal's peace process, and parliamentary exchanges were discussed.
Speaker Ghimire met with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Cambodia, Samdech Moha Rathaspitika Thipadei Khuun Sudari, on Saturday. During the meeting, the Speaker thanked him for organizing and inviting the 11th plenary session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace.
Speaker Ghimire said during the meeting that an inclusive and progressive structure has been built along with Nepal's peace process.
"The Comprehensive Peace Agreement in Nepal in 2006 has brought stability and has made a significant contribution to creating an inclusive and progressive structure including federalism through the Constituent Assembly," the Speaker said.
The Cambodian Parliament has given the Speaker a guard of honor for his success in Nepal's peace process and the recent passage of the Transitional Justice Law by the Parliament.
Expressing happiness over the socio-economic development achieved by Cambodia under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Manet, the Speaker said, "The Government of Nepal, the Parliament of Nepal, and the Nepali people appreciate the economic prosperity achieved by the Kingdom of Cambodia in the past decades."
