Dec 10, Kathmandu- A young man has been arrested on charges of defaming a young woman by misusing social media. The arrested person is 31-year-old Roshan Bhandari, a native of Dhading and currently residing in Chandragiri Municipality, Kathmandu.

A police team deployed from the Cyber ​​Bureau arrested the accused Bhandari from Kathmandu on Sunday. According to the victim, after their conversation with Bhandari, who they had become friends with on Facebook, they became romantically involved. The relationship had reached the stage of planning marriage.

But when Bhandari showed suspicious behavior towards the girl and tried to control her, the girl became dissatisfied and stayed away from contact.

After all of Bhandari's attempts to contact the girl failed, he tried to create mental pressure by sending a secret photo of the girl to her relatives via WhatsApp.

The young woman filed a complaint with the bureau after the young man she was meeting occasionally and was in a romantic relationship with sent her a photo of herself to her relatives and defamed her. According to the bureau's spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Deepak Raj Awasthi, based on the complaint filed by the young woman, technical analysis and investigation have revealed Bhandari's involvement.

The bureau has taken a five-day remand from the Kathmandu District Court for an offense under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063.
