Two Arrested In Defrauding Case With Dollar Currency

Dec 12, Kathmandu- Police have arrested two people on charges of defrauding them by showing them dollar currency.

The arrested are Bikram Shrestha, 37, a resident of Gati, Bahrabise Municipality-6, Sindhupalchowk, and a resident of Ganesh Basti, Surya Binayak Municipality-8, Bhaktapur, and Dil Bahadur Shrestha, 55, a resident of Khatri Tole, Surya Binayak Municipality-9, Bhaktapur.

They had cheated a 41-year-old woman from Pokali, Okhaldhunga Likhu Rural Municipality-9, of 650,000 Nepali rupees by tempting her over the phone and WhatsApp to provide US dollars at a cheaper rate than the exchange rate.

Based on that information, police deployed from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Branch Office, Bhaktapur, arrested them on Tuesday. They also recovered one scooter and four mobile phones from them.

Police have stated that they have been handed over to the District Police Complex, Bhaktapur for necessary investigation and action.
