Corruption Case Against Section Officer For Receiving Bribe

Dec 16, Kathmandu- A corruption case has been filed against Ashok Kumar Yadav, a section officer at the District Administration Office, Mahottari, on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a service recipient.

According to Narahari Ghimire, spokesperson for the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Yadav was arrested by a team deployed from the Commission's office, Bardibas, based on information that he was demanding a bribe from a service recipient in order to facilitate the provision of legal expenses and compensation to the next of kin (victim) of the deceased in a vehicular homicide case.

During the investigation, the commission stated that it was found that the bribe was demanded for the purpose of facilitating the provision of the necessary procedures and compensation as per the rules after the death of Ashok Kumar Yadav and Dinesh Prasad Shah in a road accident due to mutual collusion.

According to the commission, a charge sheet was filed against the two in the Special Court, Kathmandu, on Monday, demanding a fine of Rs 20,000 as per the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 BS.
