Turkish President Urges EU To Take Back Syrian Refugees

Dec 19, Kathmandu- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has urged the European Union (EU) to facilitate the repatriation of Syrian refugees, stressing the need to establish an inclusive administration in Syria in Ankara.

There is no place for terrorist organizations in Syria, Erdogan said at a joint press conference with visiting European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Noting that a significant portion of Syrian refugees are currently living in Turkey, Erdogan said Syria's reconstruction requires swift and strong support from neighbors, allies, the EU and international organizations.

The European Union has allocated 6 billion euros to Turkey to help Syrians take refuge there. According to official statistics, approximately 3 million registered Syrian refugees live in Turkey.
