Dec 19, Kathmandu- Eleven people died in a fire at a karaoke bar in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Two others were injured in the incident.
Images released by state media show a black high-rise building in western Hanoi badly damaged by the fire.
Police said they received reports of the fire at 11pm local time on Wednesday, with several people trapped inside.
Rescue workers rushed to the scene immediately after the incident and rescued seven people alive and two were taken to hospital. Police confirmed that 11 people were found dead in the incident.
A statement issued by Hanoi police said, “Police have detained some people suspected of involvement in the fire. Initial investigations into the incident revealed that the cafe was deliberately set on fire.”
State media quoted witnesses as saying that the fire was so intense that no one dared to rescue those trapped inside.
