Four Killed In Helicopter Crash In Turkey

Dec 22, Kathmandu- Four people died when a helicopter crashed into a hospital in southwestern Turkey on Sunday, the provincial governor said.

Governor of Mugla Province, Idris Akbiyik, said, "During takeoff, the helicopter crashed into the fourth floor of the hospital and fell to the ground, killing two pilots, a doctor, and an employee." It is said that the helicopter crashed due to bad weather.

“There was thick fog,” Akbiyik said. “Officials are investigating the cause of the accident.”

As shown in images broadcast by the NTV television channel, the helicopter, which was flying from the roof of a hospital in Mugla and heading towards the city of Antalya, crashed due to poor visibility for the flight.

According to Turkish media, the helicopter disappeared into fog minutes after takeoff and then crashed in an empty field near the hospital.

The crash came less than two weeks after six soldiers were killed when two helicopters collided during a military training exercise in Turkey's southwestern Isparta province.

The cause of the helicopter crash was not disclosed at the time by the Defense Ministry.
