Dec 26, Kathmandu- A state-of-the-art electronic system has been installed to make the border city of Bhairahawa more secure. Siddharthanagar Municipality has installed a state-of-the-art electronic system, the 'Automatic Number Plate Recognition System' (ANPR), to make Bhairahawa, which is also the headquarters of Rupandehi, more organized and secure.
An 'Automatic Number Plate Recognition System' (ANPR) has been installed to identify people involved in various crimes, from vehicle accidents, to traffic accidents. Chairman of Siddharthnagar Municipality Istiyaq Ahmed Khan said that the installed state-of-the-art technology is playing an important role in crime control along with the traffic management of Bhairahawa.
According to him, ANPR cameras have been installed at Devkota Chowk, in front of Gautam Buddha International Airport and at Belahiya Bypass to make Bhairahawa safer. He expressed confidence that this will not only identify vehicles involved in road accidents but also identify people on the wanted list of the Nepal government at any time, thereby contributing significantly to crime control.
Siddharthanagar Municipality Chief Administrative Officer Janak Thapa said that this system can identify the number plate and color of vehicles not only in daylight but also in the dark of night, and can identify and provide information immediately even if the person on the wanted list is wearing a mask or any other item.
Due to this, he claims that the police are getting help in controlling crime. According to him, apart from this, Siddharthanagar Municipality has been monitoring the activities of the city by installing CCTV cameras in 18 other places in Bhairahawa.
CCTV cameras have been installed at Buddha Chowk, Maya Devi Vegetable Market Entrance Chowk, Basdil Hawa Chowk, Barmeli Tole, Janak Path, Devkota Chowk, Mil Chowk, Bidrohi Chowk, Bhajuratna Chowk, Eye Hospital, Meudi Hawa, Udyogpuri, Maya Devi Chowk, in front of Bhairahawa Campus, Bus Park, Nimarna Chowk, among other places, informed Tapan Pandey, Information Technology Officer of the Municipality. He said that the Municipality plans to install more ANPR and CCTV cameras based on the need.
