Dec 27, Kathmandu- The statement of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane has been completed in the Surya Darshan Cooperative case in Pokhara. Rabi's statement, which took two days to be recorded, was completed on Friday, informed court clerk Rajan Khanal. Lamichhane's statement was recorded in the bench of District Judge Nitij Rai.
According to him, the statements of Chhabilal Joshi, Leela Pachai, and Rabi have been completed so far.
Now, statements of Nature Herbs owner Ram Bahadur Khanal, former MP Meena Gurung, former treasurer Aarti Gurung, former director Lalit Bahadur Gurung, and former owner Krishna Bahadur Gurung are pending.
Police sources have informed that Krishna Bahadur may not be able to give his statement in court as he is ill.
The court has stated that the detention hearing and order will be held only after the statements of all the defendants are completed. Last Sunday, the District Attorney's Office, Kaski, filed a case against 44 people, including RSP Chairman Lamichhane, on charges of embezzlement of cooperative funds.
Lamichhane has been charged with fraud against the cooperative, as well as organized crime and money laundering.
The Public Prosecutor's Office has stated that cases have been filed against 63 people in the District Court, Kaski, in connection with the fraud against the Surya Darshan Cooperative. Cases have also been filed against 19 people, including Lamichhane, for organized crime.
Similarly, cases have been filed against Khanal, Joshi and Pachai for money laundering, along with Lamichhane, according to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
