Dec 29, Kathmandu- A teenager who fell ill after eating the meat of dead chicken in Achham has died, while three other members of his family have fallen ill.
Kamal BK, 15, of Bayla, Kamal Bazar Municipality-3, died on Sunday, informed Achham Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ishwori Prasad Bhandari.
BK had eaten dead chicken meat brought from a local butcher shop on Friday. BK, who fell ill after eating the meat, died on Sunday, Bhandari said.
According to him, the deceased's grandmother, 70-year-old Nam BKk, her 14-year-old granddaughter Sita BK, and grandson, 9-year-old Bikash BK, who ate chicken meat, have also fallen ill. DSP Bhandari said that they are being treated at the district hospital.
After eating the dead chicken, the deceased boy and other family members had health problems including stomach ache and vomiting.
The deceased teenager's parents are in India for employment.
Police have said that they are investigating the incident by keeping the meat shop owner under surveillance.
